JOG-A-THON
PURPOSE
Gemini’s Jog-A-Thon (JAT) is held to raise funds for various initiatives at Gemini.
HOW IT WORKS
During a 35-minute (30 for Kindergarten) time period, each child will run, walk or jog around Gemini’s track that is half the size of a soccer field as many times as they can! Students will ask people to sponsor them for a certain amount of money per lap or make a single donation.

STUDENTS - Your Job
GET SPONSORS! Ask family and friends to pledge money for each lap that is completed or a fixed amount, regardless of how many laps are completed. Parents bring the pledge envelope to work for a few days to get donations from colleagues, students ask your family, friends and neighbors. Please have the completed pledge envelopes back to school by date given.
DAY OF EVENT
Wear COMFORTABLE CLOTHES, RUNNING SHOES, and don’t forget to bring your own WATER BOTTLE from home to HYDRATE! Hydration should begin at least the day BEFORE JAT at home to prevent dehydration! When dehydration occurs, recovery won’t begin until after JAT is over, so the best thing to do is to PREVENT it! Water will be provided in the classrooms on the day of the event so your child can continue hydrating before and after their scheduled run time. There will also be individual water bottles on the field during their run.
We are asking each class to donate at least two cases of small water bottles. Water will be used both in the classroom and on the field.
COLLECTING PLEDGES
After JAT, the PTO will verify the child’s laps and return the pledge envelope to collect any outstanding donations. Any checks should be made payable to “Gemini Elementary PTO.” The final envelopes will be tallied by the PTO.
Make sure the donor enters the child’s name in the note’s section when they donate. All pledges must be turned in to receive any awards by date given.
